Traditional Floor Screed or Sand and Cement Floor Screed is made from sharp sand, cement and a minimal quantity of water. This is suitable for most applications that are to receive a floor finish and is usually the most economic.
We ensure that all material meets the standard set out by British Standards when mechanically batched. Factory mixed, ready-to-use sand and cement levelling screed offers excellent cement dispersion. This in turn provides a uniform comprehensive strength throughout.
It can be used on suspended or in-situ concrete floors, as a topping to light aggregate screeds or utilised in a floating construction over insulation to give acoustic or thermal properties. Using ready mixed screeds eliminates the problems which can arise when using screed mixed on site.
Traditional Floor screed benefits:
Flexible enough for use on the following:
A limecrete floor consists of a compacted layer of Recycled Foamed Glass (RFG) insulation on top of prepared sub-base and geotextile membrane. This is followed by another layer of geotextile and limecrete produced using lightweight insulating aggregate rather than conventional sand. Depending on individual requirements this can be followed by screed before the final floor finish.
Underfloor heating works well with limecrete and can be laid directly in the slab or installed in the screed. We offer fibre re-enforcement to provide greater strength, sooner, without compromising the breath-ability or life of the limecrete.
We are able to modify sand & cement screeds with SBR (styrene-butadiene rubber) to provide water resistance where damp penetration may be an issue such as shower areas, swimming pools and floors generally at ground level.
In addition we are able to reinforce screeds to align with the requirements of your structural engineer, reduce cracking, assistant in movement and slip jointing with a range of fibres, fabric meshes and steel wire or bar reinforcement when completing heavy traffic constructions.
We are able quick drying options to sand cement screeds either with liquid additives providing 50mm screeds to cure in 8 days or less as well as cement dry based additives from Ardex and the like that allow screeds to be tiled over in less than 5 hours!
We are happy to discuss the options available and the need, or not, for such additives on your projects.
